Weekly Writing Tip #2 Will Anyone Read My Book?

A lot of people have asked me about genres. Genres are the category your writing fits into such as chick-lit, cosy crime, and splatter horror etc. The thing that worries many would-be writers is - what happens if they write a book in a genre which is not popular at that time?

My response to this is always, write the book you want to write. Your audience is out there and they will come to you. It doesn’t matter if it’s a popular genre or not, popularity is fickle, good writing will create its own readership.

So, write the story that you want and believe in it.

Your readers will find you.

“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” - Groucho Marx
